Dating Online and Its Rules

Dating online seems to be the realm of the fearless and the lawless.  Truth is, it is not.  There are certain rules you have to live by so that your dating online experience will not be horrendous and awful. First of all, dating online requires you not to be too personal.  Simply put, you should not give away everything personal about you, while still revealing enough of your personality.  Sounds difficult doesn’t it?

First, post a recent photo.  Do not post a photo that has been taken 10 years ago when you still had hair or 15 years ago when you did not have crow’s feet.  Men would prefer a simple, not exactly model-ish picture which is truthful than a radically different picture from who you really are.  On the other hand, do not immediately assume that your photo is accurate and updated as your photo is.  Do not ever underestimate the power of Photoshop.

You should also teach yourself the lingo of dating online.  Here is an example, he calls himself lovable and huggable, which actually means he is chubby.  Do not be fooled by corny lines.  These have been  used way too many times, even when not dating online.

Do not be superficial and choose your dates solely based on their pictures in their profiles.  Do not be fooled by dashing pictures.  Reality check: real men lose their hair and grow love handles in time.

As was mentioned, do not disclose any personal information such as your telephone number or address, that could lead to where you live.  Also, do not behave like a kid in a candy store full of online temptations.  Dating online allows you to easily get distracted by the fakers.  Stay true and focused on finding the right guy, and not the guy that seems right for the moment.
